Alumni activity means cooperation between a university and its former students. In the University of Vaasa, about 400 students complete their degree annually, and to date about 10,000 have graduated. The alumni, the former students of the University of Vaasa or the School of Economics and Business Administration, form an academic community reaching many fields of society. The broader this community is, the more effectively it can support the University in taking care of its interests in and relations with society.
The purpose of the alumni activity is to maintain contacts to the former students of the University, to strengthen the academic solidarity, to support University’s relationships with society, and to help in fund raising. The research and teaching taking place at the University is communicated best through personal contacts. At best, the alumni of the University can grow into a considerable network of influential persons the contacts of which create prosperity both to the University and the alumni.
